McDonald's Logo Rebranding

 McDonald’s Logo Rebrand Exercise

For my redesign of the McDonald’s logo, I decided to keep it very simple and close to its original design due to just how big McDonald’s is as a company. Stretching too far away from their original image would be risking losing customers. According to their mission statement, McDonald’s aims “to provide a fun and safe environment where our customers can enjoy good food made with quality ingredients at affordable prices.” To keep with this mission statement more than the original logo, I decided to focus on less symmetry and more rounded edges in order to promote a more welcoming feel to the logo. This also applied to the font, which I changed to something much rounder and ‘fun’ in terms of appearance compared to the sharp simple font used in some of the official McDonald’s logos. I had to keep the golden arches, as they’re integral to the image of McDonalds as a brand – this also extends to the colour choices, which both scream McDonalds and have some meaning. The yellow has connotations of joy and happiness, which clearly links to the mission statement’s mention of providing a fun and safe environment.
